The College of Pharmacy at the University of Basrah organized a workshop entitled "Student Discipline Instructions in Institutions of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research."
The workshop comprised two lectures: the first, delivered by the Associate Dean for Scientific Affairs, Dr. Karam Allah Shakir, focused on introducing undergraduate students to legal and administrative terminology, as well as the Iraqi Student Discipline Instructions in Higher Education and Scientific Research Institutions No. 160 of 2007 (as amended by Instructions No. 169 of 2018). Key topics included discussing prominent student rights and obligations, such as adhering to regulations, directives, and orders issued by the Ministry and its institutions, safeguarding religious beliefs, national unity, and patriotic sentiments, avoiding sectarian or ethnic incitement, refraining from harming the reputation of the Ministry or state institutions by word or deed on or off campus, clarifying procedural provisions and disciplinary sanctions stipulated by law, and explaining the operating mechanisms of disciplinary committees in higher education institutions.
Meanwhile, the second lecture, presented by the Head of the Educational Guidance and Psychological Counseling Unit at the college, lecturer Najlaa Al-Saffar, addressed cultivating optimism and positive outlooks for a successful academic journey, promoting tolerance, brotherhood, and a sense of belonging by functioning as one family, committing to the university dress code, treating faculty and staff members and peers with mutual respect, and emphasizing the vital role of the Educational Guidance and Psychological Counseling Unit in embracing student ideas, overcoming difficulties, and minimizing obstacles to resolve problems proactively before they escalate.
