The College of Pharmacy at the University of Basrah discussed a Master's thesis titled "Preparation and In Vitro Evaluation of Anticancer Activity of Some Pyrazole Derivatives as Potential Cyclin-Dependent Kinase Inhibitors" presented by the student Mohammed Mudhaffar Flayyih.
The thesis involved synthesizing and characterizing novel derivatives based on the pyrazole core as potential anticancer agents. The study evaluated their in vitro cytotoxic activity against breast and colon cancer cell lines and assessed the inhibitory potential of the synthesized compounds against Cyclin-Dependent Kinase 2 (CDK2).
The study aimed to synthesize and chemically characterize novel pyrazole derivatives, evaluate their anticancer efficacy against breast and colon cancer cell lines, examine their inhibitory capacity against the CDK2 enzyme, and predict their pharmacokinetic profiles using computational ADMET modeling.
The significance of the research lies in developing novel pyrazole derivatives with potent potential anticancer activity mediated via CDK2 inhibition, providing promising lead compounds that can be further refined and evaluated in future studies to achieve more targeted and effective cancer therapies.
