Basrah - College of Pharmacy Media:

The rapporteur of the Parliamentary Health and Environment Committee, Dr. Safaa Muslim Bandar, accompanied by the President of the University of Basrah, Prof. Dr. Saad Shaheen, and the World Health Organization representative - Director of the Southern Office, Dr. Awatif Al-Iqabi, conducted an inspection visit to the production laboratory of the Viral Transport Medium (VTM), which preserves and transports samples from Coronavirus patients.

Bandar stated: "Despite the difficult circumstances our dear country is going through as a result of the dangerous epidemic striking the entire world, the College of Pharmacy, under the supervision of the President of the University of Basrah and in cooperation with Al-Zahraa College of Medicine, the College of Agriculture, Science, and Veterinary Medicine, has produced the first VTM a1 and VTM a2 as a pioneering initiative of its kind in Iraq, which serve as the transport medium for the Coronavirus."

She added: "These scientific efforts place the university in direct contact with the reality of Iraqi society, and they are efforts that deserve praise and commendation, as they contribute to overcoming the current crisis that has swept through the country."
